I could cry

I could cry, but I won’t
I’ll allow one tear to shed, then I’ll shut it down
I’ll allow one minute of sadness, then I’ll deny its existence
If I dare stop the fight, it will all be over in a heartbeat
If I dare face the reality head on, I’ll never survive
There is only so much a conscience can handle, so much a heart can withstand
Don’t judge me for living in an alternate reality. It’s called survival, and I’m a survivor
I learned that strength and skill long ago
I could scream, but I won’t
I’ll allow one sharp blast, then I’ll shut it down
I’ll allow one minute of anger, then I’ll deny its existence
If I dare let down my guard, the rage will entirely consume me
If I dare permit my temper any more power, I'll lose my sense of being
Being true to myself is to succumb to the pain, and that I will never do
Don’t judge me for living in an alternate reality. It’s called survival, and I’m a survivor
I learned that strength and skill long ago
I could hate, but I won’t
I’ll allow one cursed thought, then I’ll dismiss it completely
I’ll allow one minute of bitterness, then I’ll force it to retreat
If I dare enter the dark corners of my heart, I’ll certainly lose myself to its powers
If I dare awaken the shadows that linger in the darkness, I’ll certainly succumb
Don’t judge me for living in an alternate reality. It’s called survival, and I’m a survivor
I learned that strength and skill long ago
I could cry, but I won’t
